Welcome!
If this is your first welcome to IUPUI I hope you excel academically, find friends, organizations, and activities that challenge you, and learn as much about yourself as you do your chosen field of study. For our returning students, welcome back! To those who will be graduating this year, finish strong!
In July 2024, IUPUI will become Indiana University Indianapolis and Purdue University in Indianapolis and there will be changes for our faculty, staff, and students. This academic year, we are still part of IUPUI’s vibrant, supportive, and world-class campus.
What is changing this year?
Not much. The School of Engineering and Technology has a strategic plan that challenges us to
Compete and succeed at the highest level
Strive for excellence
Enhance our image and reputation
Our work continues to be focused on these three pillars. You, our students, are at the center of our collective work.
What is NOT changing this year?

- Access to campus academic support services like the MAC, Bepko Learning Center, CAPS, the library, and the writing centers
- Access to academic advisors to plan your pathway to graduation
- Familiar faculty and staff, along with some new friendly faces
- Parking challenges
- May 2024 IUPUI graduation

What will you start to see?
As we approach the spring semester, you will start to see some changes in preparation for the 2024 academic year. You will notice Purdue branding and marketing being placed around campus. You may see new Purdue colleagues helping us transition to Purdue University. You will be receiving more frequent updates from Purdue. A Purdue FAQ for students has been published and will be a helpful reference as we prepare to transition to the Purdue system. There is also a considerable amount of Purdue in Indianapolis swag heading your way!
We all have a lot of questions as we prepare for the fall of 2024. I realize there are still some uncertainties, but I want each of you to know that as Acting Dean for the School of Engineering and Technology, I am focused on your success. Our School has a strong history of graduating extraordinary students, and I am excited to be a part of your experience.
If you have questions you would like to ask, please use this link: Ask Dean Wallace, and I will do my best to track down the answer for you. Please understand that some Purdue questions are still waiting for answers.
Make it a great academic year!
Sincerely,
Joseph Wallace
Acting Dean
