Purdue School of Engineering and Technology Recognition Event
In addition to the IUPUI events, the School of Engineering and Technology invites all graduates from an E&T or Music & Arts Technology program to a recognition ceremony.
Date: Friday, May 10, 2024
Processional begins: 3:00pm
Grads: Sign in at registration 2:00-2:45 p.m.
Guests: Arrive 2:00-2:45 p.m.
Location: JW Mariott, 10 S. West St., Indianapolis, IN
Participating students must wear the appropriate academic regalia and will hear their names called as they walk across the stage.

Friday, May 10, 2024. Graduates and guests need to arrive between 2 – 2:45 p.m. The processional begins at 3 p.m.
The JW Marriott Hotel Grand Ballroom, 10 S. West Street, Indianapolis, IN, 46202. The Grand Ballroom is on the 3rd floor. Note that this is a new location for our event.
We ask that you RSVP HERE and let us know if you are coming and how many guests you expect (up to 6, please). There are no tickets for this event.
Give your personal (non-university) email on the form if you want the professional photographer to contact you after the event with information about how to purchase your individual photos. This email will not be shared with anyone else or used for any other purpose.
You must wear appropriate academic regalia over your clothes. You will not be allowed to process without cap and gown and Herff-Jones will NOT be on-site Friday, May 10 for rentals.
For undergraduates, Engineering = Orange* and Technology = Red.** Instructions for master’s and PhD graduate regalia are on the Herff Jones web portal. Engineering and Technology majors should all order Purdue regalia (black gowns with gold trim). Order your cap, gown, and tassel.
*Engineering = Any major in BME, ECE, MEE, and Motorsports
**Technology = Any major in CIGT, OL, and ENT – except for Motorsports (MET, EET & ECET = Technology)

Yes. If you have cords or a stole from your honor society or organization or a Kente stole, you may wear it with your other regalia.
You must arrive at the JW Marriott Hotel Grand Ballroom between 2 - 2:45 p.m. and check in. Go in the main doors to the lobby and up the escalator to the landing on the 3rd floor. You will see the registration desks. Or take an elevator from the lobby to the 3rd floor, take a left, go all the way to the end of the corridor, and turn right. Move forward to the registration desks. There will be people and signs to direct you.
Graduates may invite up to six guests each. There are no tickets, but we ask that you RSVP and let us know you are coming and how many guests you expect.
Guests may arrive at the JW Marriott Hotel Grand Ballroom between 2 - 2:45 p.m. and choose seats in the Grand Ballroom. It’s open seating except for those reserved for graduates in front of the stage. There are no tickets. Please limit guests to 6.
Yes! You will walk across the stage, hear your name called and shake hands with your department chair and the dean.
You must arrive between 2 – 2:45 p.m., wear a cap and gown, check in to get your reader card (with your name on it), and then carry that card with you to the stage
Yes. You will have your photograph taken individually by a professional photographer and may purchase photos later via your non-university email. To receive communications about photos, RSVP HERE and include your personal email by Friday, April 26.
The JW Marriott Hotel has some parking underneath the hotel for a fee. There are also several parking garages downtown that you can search for online.
Yes! If you graduated December 2023 or will graduate May or August 2024, you may attend both the E&T Recognition Event and the IUPUI Commencement, one or the other, or neither. It’s your choice.
Graduates who attend IUPUI Commencement receive a diploma cover. No diploma covers are available at the E&T Recognition Event. The IUPUI Bookstore usually has a supply of diploma covers for purchase during the spring semester.
The stage will have ramps for graduates. There will be select open spaces next to aisles for mobility devices. If you and/or a guest needs a sign language interpreter, please email kssloan@iupui.edu by Monday, March 11.
Deadlines
There are three (3) graduation periods: May, August, and December.
To initiate the graduation process, the student submits an Application for Graduation adhering to the deadlines set by the IUPUI Office of the Registrar. Here are the graduation application deadlines:
May graduation deadline: October 15
August graduation deadline: January 15
December graduation deadline: May 15

Graduation application forms are also available outside of the E&T Recorder’s Office (ET215) and in the departments. One Application for Graduation is required for each degree: Master’s, Bachelor’s, Associate’s, or Certificate.
