Overview

This Study Abroad opportunity is part of the CIT 41600 Global IT Management course offered every other spring semester (2024, 2026, etc.)  Students who enroll in the course will spend a week in Pune and Agra, India during their Spring Break.

The goal of this program is for CIT students to learn about the challenges faced by Chief Information Officers, experience first-hand the Indian IT services industry, and learn about the various models used by companies to manage outsourced and offshored work. The course will involve classroom sessions once per week during the semester with an embedded study abroad program to India over spring break.

Our study abroad program will consist of the following key elements:

  • Visits to multinational and Indian companies across the sourcing supply chain so that students learn how work is distributed to the various parties, how that work is completed, and how and why partnerships are developed
  • Visit to Symbiosis Centre for Information Technology (SCIT), where students will be able to interact with Indian students and learn about the differences between the US and Indian education systems and cultural aspects and life style
  • Opportunity to work on a collaborative project with students in Pune
  • Visits to a variety of cultural and historical sites to help the students understand the environment in which the outsourcing and offshoring industry has developed (and, yes, we will visit the Taj Mahal.)

When is the Trip?

Travelers will depart on the Friday before Spring Break and will return 10 days later on the Sunday just prior to the start of classes.  For 2024, the dates are Friday, March 8th - Sunday, March 17th.
