Common graduate student funding sources are:
Research Assistantship: The RA provides full financial support for expenses related to graduate tuition, programs fees, student health insurance and/or living expenses. The RA requires at least 6 credits of degree-applicable coursework and 20 hours of thesis related research each semester in the laboratory of a Electrical and Computer Engineering faculty mentor. Teaching Assistantship: The TA provides partial financial support for expenses related to graduate tuition, program fees, student health insurance and/or living expenses. The TA requires at least 6 credits of degree-applicable coursework and up to 20 hours of service to the Electrical and Computer Engineering department, typically to teach a course and/or lab. TA awards are based on department needs. Typically provided by department and restricted to PhD students.
Graduate Assistantship: The GA is a combination of RA and TA repsonsibilities. The GA provides partial financial support for expenses related to graduate tuition, programs fees, student health insurance and/or living expenses. The GA requires at least 6 credits of degree-applicable coursework and 20 hours of service to the Electrical and Computer Engineering department.
Part-time Hourly work: The department employs students as laboratory instructor, laboratory assitant, recitation assistant, tutor, and /or grader on an hourly basis. (Application) Once you have completed the application, send it to ecegrad@iupui.edu.
University Fellowship: The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department nominates outstanding applicants for the University Fellowship award. Recipients of the University Fellowship receive partial financial support for expenses related to graduate tuition, programs fees, student health insurance and/or living expenses. (See application deadlines here) Fall Applicants, whose applications are completed by January 15th may be considered for nomination for a fellowship. The university fellowship is a competitive campus award.
Fellowships and assistantships are awarded to the students with skills and research interests that are most compatible with Electrical and Computer Engineering faculty at IUPUI. Applicants are strongly encouraged to clarify and explain their interest in the research activities of specific Electrical and Computer Engineering faculty when completing the application packet.
