The Biomechanics and Biomaterials Research Center (BBRC) was established in 1991 with a focus on strengthening the research successes and national presence of IUPUI Faculty and students in the emerging areas of Mechanobiology, Tissue Engineering, and Biomaterials. The BBRC fosters multidisciplinary research collaborations among investigators from the Schools of Engineering and Technology, Dentistry, Medicine, Science, and Health and Rehabilitation Sciences.

The creation of INDI has stimulated collaborative research activities among a diverse pool of nationally and internationally recognized researchers at IUPUI, which have a shared interested in nanosystems research. INDI has, and will, continue to focus and promote research efforts in its thrust areas of bionanotechnology/ nanomedicine and nanoenergy, thereby building on the existing strengths of participating schools (Schools of Science, Engineering and Technology, Medicine, and Dentistry) and campus centers.

Lugar Center for Renewable Energy's (LCRE) primary mission is to promote research excellence in renewable energy through collaborative efforts among faculty in the disciplines of engineering, chemistry, physics, biology, and environmental affairs and public policy. These renewable energy applications are promoted through education, civic engagement, and synergistic partnerships with industry, government labs, and local communities.

As a cross- campus research center, faculty members from more than 10 departments and schools at IUPUI, Indiana University Bloomington, and Purdue University West Lafayette are involved in TASI’s research activities. TASI’s main activities are: vehicle testing and evaluation; human factors in active safety systems; crash data analysis and risk benefit analysis, scientific research on automation of selected driving functions; crash prevention technologies; connected vehicles.
