MSTE BS Plan of Study

This 4-year Bachelor of Science of Degree in Motorsports Engineering degree program was just approved in May, 2008. This program, which aims to prepare graduates for careers in the motorsports industry, as well as automotive-related companies, will focus on teaching fundamentals of engineering and will include hands-on projects that involve designing, analyzing, and building of actual systems.

Motorsports engineering (MSTE) majors in their second semester must apply to the motorsports engineering department by April 1.

Detailed guidelines for an acceptable application are listed below:

  • 2.5 or better overall cumulative GPA based on first year core engineering courses. The courses are listed below:
    • ENGR 19500/12500
    • CHEM-C 105
    • MATH 16500
    • MATH 16600
    • PHYS 15200
    • MATH 17100
    • MSTE 27200
    • MSTE 29701
    • MSTE 29800 (for students admitted Fall 2013 through Spring 2017)
    • MSTE 31201

**Students wishing to apply to the Motorsports Engineering undergraduate degree program will need to either: a) have completed all courses listed above or b) be currently enrolled in all the courses listed above at the time of application. In the event that 1-2 core courses from the above list have not been completed and/or are not currently enrolled in at the time of submitting the application, these applications will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

 

 

Application Timeline:

Acceptance of applications begins March 1.  Application deadline is April 1.  Review of applications will take place once official second semester grades are posted.
