In this position, Razban will be the principal advocate for personnel, financial, and equipment resources for the program. He will also be responsible for overseeing the continuous improvement of the curriculum. He will promote the program for recruitment and placement purposes, as well as increase the visibility of energy engineering as an interdisciplinary program among industry and other stakeholders. He will provide career advising and serve as the lead faculty advisor to facilitate experiential learning opportunities for energy engineering students.
“I’m very excited to be in this position since energy engineering is my deep passion. I have been involved in the development of this program since its very beginning. The program is still in its infancy stage, and has tremendous potential for growth and improvement. I hope we as energy engineering faculty can bring our program to stand out at a national level in the near future.” said Razban.
Razban has been with the Department of Mechanical Engineering since August 2010 and also served as an assistant director of the Industrial Assessment Center (IAC) since the establishment of the center in October 2011. The IAC is a key community engagement initiative within the School of Engineering and Technology. IAC provides energy audits to small- and mid-sized companies in Indiana and beyond. Razban’s clinical work to manage energy audits and his expertise in the areas of energy management, energy efficiency improvement, controls, and robotics, will help the IAC excel through its clinical engagement with the community. The IAC efforts have been funded in-part through grants from the Department of Energy, Environmental Protection Agency, and local industry.
Razban received the Ph.D. in Robotics and Automation from Imperial College, UK, the M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and the MBA in Executive Management and B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University, W. Lafayette. Razban also holds a professional engineering (PE) license.
