Purdue engineering PhD programs at IUPUI are offered in co-operation with Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana. IUPUI does not offer engineering Direct PhD programs. Direct admission to engineering PhD programs are offered at the Purdue University, West Lafayette campus.

Biomedical Engineering:
To apply for admission to the PhD program in Biomedical Engineering, you must apply directly to the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering at Purdue University, West Lafayette. Complete the Purdue University online application; select West Lafayette campus. Obtain information and specific application instructions at this Purdue University BME website: https://engineering.purdue.edu/BME/Academics/BMEGraduateProgram/Admissions/. Electrical and Computer Engineering:

Mechanical Engineering:
To apply for admission to the PhD program in Mechanical Engineering to study at the IUPUI campus, click on the following that applies to you. Applicants wishing to apply for admission to the Ph.D. ME program at IUPUI must be currently earning or have earned a Master's degree. (IUPUI does not offer the Direct Ph.D. program in engineering. Admission to the Direct Ph.D. program is offered only at the Purdue Universtiy, West Lafayette campus.)

Mechanical Engineering PhD applicants: Complete the Mechanical Engineering (ME) "Additional Information Form". Important: Save the completed form as Adobe Pro pdf in print mode and upload to the IUPUI graduate application prior to submission of the online application.

Graduate application fee of $60. Pay online with a valid credit card.
Academic-related Supporting Documents:
One (1) set of official academic transcripts are required from all colleges/universities attended. Photocopies or scanned copies of transcripts are not acceptable.
A certified copy of Bachelor's degree diploma awarded, required only if degree conferred is not posted on final transcript.
The GRE General Test is required. Official GRE scores must be reported directly to IUPUI from the testing agency ETS. (IUPUI institution code: 1325.) Refer to the information sheet "I Need Information" for details about graduate admission test.
Three (3) recommendations for graduate admission are required.
Persons writing your recommendations should be your present or former professors/instructors, advisors, or project leaders, managers/supervisors whom you report to professionally, and are expected to comment on your academic performance, intellectual abilities, and scholastic aptitudes. Recommendations from friends, acquaintances, peers, and family members or relatives are notacceptable. It is strongly preferred that recommenders complete and submit web-based recommendations within the online application. Instructions are provided in the online application on how a recommender may complete and submit an online recommendation.
A Statement of Purpose (in the online application): A 500-word essay summarizing your academic background, research contributions and professional experience if relevant, and your educational goals and objectives. In addition and very importantly, describe and highlight your specific area/s of research interest/s and focus in graduate study.
Naturalized U.S. citizens, U.S. permanent residents, and including U.S. citizens who completed secondary and/or post-secondary education (Bachelor's or Master's degree program) in a country where English is not the first or official language:
