Education

Dr. Chen received BSME degree from Tianjin University, P.R. China, in 1982, MS degree in Biomedical Engineering from Shanghai Second Medical University, P.R. China, in 1985 and Ph.D. from Drexel University in Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics, in 1989. He was a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics, Drexel University, from 1989 to 1990. He joined IUPUI in August of 1990 as assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering (80%) and Orthodontics (20%). He was promoted to Associate Professor in 1995 and to Professor in 2000. Dr. Chen is currently leading research in two research facilities:
