Fox has always participated in campus study abroad fairs in support of her program and other school programs. In addition, she has served for years as the School's representative for the study abroad committee.
I'm incredibly honored to receive this award, particularly because it highlights the study abroad experience," said Fox. "I have always believed study abroad programs are so important to a student's educational journey, and that's why I fully support and encourage student participation."
Feldhaus pointed out that Fox has made an impact with her record of published work about study abroad education, including collaborations with foreign colleagues on some publications. And even more significant is her work with students to publish and present papers about their study abroad experiences.
Fox always finds ways to improve her course and content. An example of this is when she added a community-service learning project to her Go Green course, giving students the opportunity to use what they learned about sustainability in Germany and then apply the lessons to a community project in Indianapolis.
In the nomination Feldhaus wrote on her behalf, he said: "Professor Fox has gone beyond the normal practices of teaching a study abroad class, given the related extra activities she continues to be involved in. Pat has excelled in demonstrating that she has made an impact in her program, in students who have participated, in the community, in the School and at IUPUI."
