Ear Training for Music Technology

MUS-A 241/ 2 Cr.

This class focuses on the development of ear training skills specific to sound design in music technology.  By the completion of the semester, students should be able to demonstrate a proficient knowledge in areas including: aural identification of wave forms, basic acoustics theory and aural identification of digital processes.

Instruction Goal

• Think, speak and write clearly and effectively about major concepts of acoustics theory; (PUL1; NASM 1)
• Understand fundamental techniques used in sound synthesis; (PUL 1e, NASM 17)
• Research compositions written by pioneering composers in the field; (PUL 5a, b, and c, 6, NASM 3)
• Grow a working knowledge of technological developments. (PUL 1e, NASM 18)
