Cell and Tissue Lab

This course develops quantitative biomechanical methods to analyze cell/tissue behavior and properties to solve biomechanical engineering problems. Topics include: bioviscoelasticity, failure, filament dynamics, membrane dynamics, biofluid dynamics, cellular dynamics, and tissue dynamics.

Instruction Goal
Through problem sets and bioengineering experiments, introduce students to quantitative methods to analyze cell/tissue behavior and properties.

Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:

- Model cellular responses to mechanical stimuli. [1]
- Formulate elasticity and viscosity in a biological system. [1]

- Use a research-grade microscope for live cell imaging experiments. [6]
